What is Nextcloud?
Nextcloud is an open-source platform for file storage, synchronisation, sharing, calendar, contacts, chat and collaboration on documents. It runs on your own infrastructure or with a provider so that data stays under your control. With extensions such as Collabora Online or ONLYOFFICE, documents can be edited together.
Typical use cases
- File storage and synchronisation for teams, desktop and mobile.
- Secure exchange with customers and partners via share links.
- Shared calendars, contacts and tasks.
- Alternative or complement to Microsoft 365 and cloud services outside the EU.
- Connection to Active Directory or SSO.
Benefits and limits
Advantages are data sovereignty, extensibility and no licence fees for the base version. Consider: operation, updates, security and backup need know-how, and total cost includes servers, operation and possibly a support subscription.
How INZOSO helps with Nextcloud
We size and install Nextcloud, connect sign-in and document editing, migrate data, set up backup and operate the platform on request. A comparison with Microsoft 365 can be found in our guide.
